Why CDP Trainings?


CDP's trainings are a cost-effective alternative to expensive consultants. We teach universal information in a group setting, making the learning of basic principles more affordable.

CDP's trainings secure measurable results from partners. We recognize the value of measuring results and measure the acquisition of information through offering a pre and post test during each training.

Back to Basics Training

This is the basic training for CDP's nonprofit partners and recommended as a precursor to CDP's other trainings and workshops. Organizations will learn the six components of organizational development and will be given the tools they need to address each component effectively. This training is highly interactive and requires active participation on the part of each attendee. Organizations are required to commit to action items at the end of training and are offered a certificate upon successful completion of training and action items. Organizations are encouraged to send the Executive Director, 2 or more Board members, and 1 or more key staff persons to this training. Full-day training. Cost: $499 per organization.

Forming a Nonprofit Organization

This half-day workshop walks participants through the paperwork required to form a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The workshop also covers the general responsibilities of operating a nonprofit. This is a hands-on workshop appropriate for individuals interested in forming a new nonprofit organization. Half-day workshop. Cost: $99 per person/$150 per organization.

Board Basics

CDP offers a look at the Board of Directors' roles and responsibilities with regard to strategic planning, fundraising, resource development and image development. This is an interactive training designed to be attended by multiple Board members from the same organization. Full-day training. Cost: $150 per person/$350 per organization.

Working with the Federal Government

CDP offers a comprehensive training for organizations wishing to apply for funding from the federal government. The training includes sessions on preparing to apply for federal funding, qualifying for federal funds, the application and federal reporting requirements. This training is appropriate for Board members, Executive Directors, grant writers and other key staff persons involved in resource development. Full-day training. Cost: $150 per person/$350 per organization.

Image Development

The Image Development workshop is a half-day workshop focused on assisting organizations with developing an Image Development Plan. Participants will hear creative ways to market the organization and use the media to promote the programs and services of the organization. This workshop is appropriate for Executive Directors, Directors of Development, Marketing Directors, Board members or other staff persons involved in marketing and public relations. Half-day workshop. Cost: $99 per person/$150 per organization.

Program Development

The Program Development training is a full-day workshop focused on assisting organizations with developing a new program and integrating into existing programs and services.  Participants will learn how to take a strategic approach to developing programs and the basic components to be included in the plan.  This workshop is highly hands-on and interactive and is appropriate for Executive Directors, Program Directors, Board members or other key program staff persons. Full-day training. Cost: $150 per person/$350 per organization.

Mastering the Art of Grant Writing


This hands-on workshop introduces program participants to the skill and art of grantwriting. Participants will learn when to seek grant proposals, how to get organized, how to develop a skeletal proposal and how to tweak a proposal to meet a Funder's needs. Participants will learn how to write grants for both public and private sources, including responding to Requests for Proposals, Notices of Funding Availability and developing unsolicited proposals. Participants will learn how to use Common Grant Applications, develop letter proposals and submit letters of inquiry. This course is appropriate for both novice and experienced grantwriters. Full-day training. Cost: $150 per person/$350 per organization.

ABC's of Fundraising
ABC’s of Fundraising is a full-day workshop that offers an overview of individual donor development, direct mail campaigns, event planning, and developing business relationships.  Attending the Developing Development Workshop is recommended before attending ABC’s of Fundraising.  This workshop is appropriate for Executive Directors, Directors of Development, Marketing Directors, Board members or other staff persons involved in fundraising.  Cost: $150 per person/$350 per organization.
 
Volunteer Recruitment and Management
Volunteer Recruitment and Management is a full-day workshop focusing on topics such as how to recruit and retain volunteers, record keeping for volunteers, and the role of volunteers in non-profit organizations.This workshop is appropriate for Executive Directors, Board members or other staff persons involved in volunteer management Cost: $150 per person/$350 per organization.

CDP believes in the value of providing networking opportunities. By offering group trainings, you have the opportunity to interact with other organizations creating an atmosphere of shared learning.

CDP offers results-oriented trainings. Each organization attending a CDP training leaves with a signed commitment to complete three or more action items. CDP staff follows up with partners and sponsors to hold the organization accountable for completion of identified action items.
