She yells "focus" every time a batter comes up to the plate. We swap smiles every time we hear her -- smiles at the genuineness of her love for the game and her predictable routine of encouraging ballplayers in this way. Sometimes I think I need her yelling in MY ear. Focus, Mindy. Focus.

I love my acronyms and this one is especially appreciated today. If you Google acronyms for FOCUS you'll find a few options. Here's the one I'm leaning on today:

Fixed Ongoing Concentration. As a doer I'm built for this. I appreciate uninterrupted periods of time. I don't always get those periods, but I appreciate it when I do. Today I NEED fixed ongoing concentration to accomplish some tasks and meet some deadlines.

Unlimited Success. As a visionary I dream big. Sometimes those dreams fall flat but sometimes they don't. I appreciate that the sky's the limit and I need to be reminded of the potential of limitless today.

Focus, Mindy. Focus. Here I go!
