Is this familiar?

Do something. Post it. Make it look fantastic and big and important. Get your friends to repost, like it, applaud it. Warm fuzzies, raised chest. Rinse. repeat. This is typical social media engagement.

How about this? Do something kind. No post. No social media applause. Rinse. repeat.

Significance and impact are not synonymous with how much attention an act draws. Don't confuse the two. Most impact is done without fanfare. The most significant acts aren't applauded.
