See people.

See the helpers (as Mr Rogers said). See those who are working in the trenches, in the background and without fanfare. A few people make it into the spotlight and are validated and recognized for a job well done. Some get a picture in the paper or an award with their name on it. Some are recognized at banquets or luncheons. These events are fantastic. Recognize achievement or contribution. I applaud those who receive a public thank you. But so many others aren't called out, don't take the stage or have their names known. But you know what? We see you. There are people in your circle -- your friends, clients, customers, friends or maybe even LinkedIn connections -- that see you.

It's easy to pass through our day and fail to stop and acknowledge the person in front of us. I challenge us all to see the people in front of us. See the people who make the world a better place or contribute to our community's health and well-being. Give a smile, an acknowledgement, a thank you to those who are part of your circle and part of your daily world. See the server, the attendant, the receptionist, the co-worker, the planner, the behind-the-scenes-without-fanfare contributor to your community, your day and the lives of those they touch.

We are all in this together. You touch the world of others and they touch your world. We live, work and play with others and they become our circle, our tribe. On this day, a wonderful Wednesday afternoon let's commit to see the people in front of us, acknowledge the value they bring and make this day a little brighter.
