Yes, I hopped on.

Anyone who knows me understands how much I appreciate anonymity and working in the background.  I have attended many, many webinars, seminars and workshops seeking validation as a business owner that I can indeed continue to work in the shadows and not put myself out front.  Let others be the "face" of the company.  Let others who enjoy the spotlight bask in any attention we may get.  But alas I always come away from marketing seminars disappointed and without validation.  It seems people want to see and know the person behind the business. So I did it.  I jumped on the bandwagon.  However uncomfortable it may be, I took my dear friend and colleague Jenny's advice and beefed up my "engagement" with others.

If you follow CDP on Facebook or Linkedin, you'll notice a new series of short videos we're publishing daily. It seems that people really like to watch videos.  We have had more "sharing" and "viewing" of these videos than most of our other social media efforts.  Interesting.  I guess watching these clips gives us a sense of "knowing" and looking inside the business in ways we don't otherwise get.  At CDP we have lots of information we share.  We generally do so through webinars and workshops but now we've added videos to our list of offerings.

I can't say that I'm enjoying this...yet.  I feel somewhat egocentric and self conscious.  But I am willing to stick with it for a time.  I promised myself (and Jenny) I'd give it a month and reevaluate the impact or effectiveness then.  Facebook...check.  LinkedIn....check.  Twitter...check.  Videos...check.  Next on the list...? Instagram.  Watch out social media world.  CDP is joining the bandwagon in a big way.
