You can do this.

Nonprofit work is arguably one of the most difficult jobs. It can challenge even the most seasoned professional. There's an added layer of challenge for those who start a new nonprofit. Growing the 'business' side in addition to the 'mission' side is a special kind of assignment. Be encouraged. You can do this. Here's some food for thought.

1. Nonprofits are CORPORATIONS. That means you aren't intended to, nor can you, do this alone. Find the right team to come alongside you. You cannot do this alone. No one can.

2. Remember the 'reason for'. Write down the vision, the passion and the REASON FOR this new venture. You'll need to reflect back during seasons of toughness. The 'reason for' will encourage you to keep going and keep your eye on the prize.

3. Ask for help. Do not let pride or the fear of what you think you SHOULD know get in the way of asking for help when you need it. There is wisdom in the counsel of many advisors. You are not the first social entrepreneur and you won't be the last. There are many who have walked before you so seek guidance and advice when you need it. And when you are on the other side? Help someone else.
