Communities where everyone can thrive. Everyone means all people. Everyone is not just those who are well-off or made great decisions or planned their life path and followed it perfectly. Everyone INCLUDES those who are thriving already but it also includes pre-thrivers. (New term??) Everyone is those who need a second chance, people who need one more do-over or a chance to try again. Everyone includes individuals in transition and people looking to move ahead in unchartered territory. Everyone deserves a chance to thrive -- to become all they were created to be.
At CDP we champion small business and entrepreneurs and we champion housing that is affordable. We champion nonprofits who provide services that make our communities places we want to live, work and raise our families. We champion community partnerships that bring collective wisdom around the proverbial table to solve community challenges. We champion efforts that raise the boats for everyone. We champion those in the field everyday creating communities where everyone can thrive.
Community development is comprehensive. It includes economic development, housing, parks and recreation and public infrastructure. You can't accomplish healthy community by emphasizing just one area. Creating communities where everyone can thrive requires a comprehensive look at how we develop strong communities.
