Happy Monday!
I see Mondays as a fresh start -- a series of five days to make an impact, get things done and move forward toward my outlaid goals. I know many people dread Mondays. I see posts about Monday blues, but if you have dread approaching most weeks, perhaps you should revisit whether you are well-placed in your work. Consider these qualities your work should include:
(1) Passion. The work should suit what you care about and what interests you. Everyone -- the plumber, the electrician, the accountant, the sales professionals, the attorney, the community developer -- should be passionate about their work. If you AREN'T passionate or have lost the passion consider revisiting your occupation or particular job role you are in.
(2) Fulfilling. Your work should fulfill you. Your work should bring a sense of satisfaction and 'feel goods' validating that you are using your gifts, talents, education, experience and abilities to make a difference. Work is good; it's not a punishment. Work should make us feel like contributors and give us a sense of achievement. We all need to know that we are contributing to the world around us and work is one way to accomplish that.
(3) Expectancy. Work should draw out a sense of hope about the future we are contributing to and the difference we'll make. Work teaches us new things and broadens our experience. We can approach each new week with awe and wonder about what is in store for us and have a sense of expectancy that this will be a week of great triumph, accomplishment and success.
(4) Gratitude. Let's cultivate a mindset of gratitude for our work and employment. Practically, work provides for our family and enables us to have things we need and pursue hobbies we enjoy. Work environments bring us together with like-minded professionals and those who share our passion and calling. We can be thankful for the people who we do work-life with and get to meet on the journey.
Happy Monday, y'all. I hope this week you find many 'wins' and have a week that leaves you feeling refreshed and accomplished.
