What gets your leftovers?

Most of us juggle many different hats -- some are personal roles we have like mom, dad, grandparent, daughter, son. Other hats are our commitments at work, church, civic club, sports team, and the like. Prioritizing our time can be challenging but so can prioritizing our ENERGY. Let's face it --some tasks and commitments energize us and others drain us. So what if we prioritized and managed our energy instead of just our time...? How would that change how we function in our day-to-day lives?Think about this:

(1) What tasks fill your day? Do an inventory of everything you do in a given day.
(2) Does this activity/task create or deflate your energy? Energy zappers have to go or at least be minimized.
(3) Are you doing this out of obligation or out of your gifting? Get rid of those tasks or roles that are simply obligatory.
(4) If you don't have anything GIVING you energy you need new hobbies, friends, or habits. Some days will be more tiring than others but the pattern is what's important here.

It's no fair to consistently short-change your family, work, friends or commitments or just always give them your leftovers. Rearrange your commitments by this energy quiz and see where you are. Work an energy zapper? Find a new job. Friends drain you? Set a boundary. Too much on your plate? Get rid of the zappers.
