When Seeking a Leadership Position

Food for thought when seeking a leadership position:
(1) Experience - what personal and professional experience do you bring to the position? Don't underestimate the value of personal experience. It matters not WHERE you get the experience, only that you bring it with you.

(2) Education -- what formal and informal education do you bring to the position? Degrees are great. Credentialing, accreditation, certifications? Great. These are indicators of lessons learned. What OTHER type of education do you bring to the table? Do you read, watch documentaries, explore periodicals, stay up on developments, themes, theories, new ideas...? As an employer, I don't care HOW you got educated, only that you bring that to the table.

(3) Skills. What sets you apart? What skills do you bring to the position -- technology, software, facilitation, sales, development, technical, mechanical....what skills do you have that might be useful to a leadership position? How can those skills work to our organization's advantage?

(4) Talents. Talents are your natural inclinations, gifting and aptitude. What unique set of attributes do you bring to this leadership position?
