72 Hours

I am headed out to a spiritual retreat today. I have done one other retreat in recent memory and it was a time to reflect, rejuvenate and prepare for the advent season and the year to come. As I consider my time over the next 72 hours, I commit to:

✔ Unplug. Turn off the noise and just be. This is hard for most of us who require connection to accomplish our mission, purpose and keep up with friends and family. Scarcity of internet and cell service will help me to embrace the quiet.

✔ Reflect. Reflect on the past year, the successes, the failures and lessons learned. Reflection includes taking a hard look in the soul mirror to see where I've missed the mark, what needs to improve and where I need to learn and grow. This is the hard work of solace and retreat.

✔ Refresh. Spend time reading, listening, praying and resting in what brings spiritual refreshment to my inner being. I get little time in my everyday to get refreshed in the quiet so I will soak in the opportunity these next couple of days brings.

As your schedule allows, find time to retreat and renew. It is worth the investment of time and I promise the everyday busyness will still be there when you return.
