Lessons from the waiting room.

  1. Treat others the way you want to be treated. There's no need for snarky receptionists. Kindness is always in style. It is never acceptable to forgo treating people well - no matter the endless questions or difficulty finding the insurance card or the hard-of-hearing patient.

  2. Respect the time of clients, customers, and er..patients. My time is valuable and so is yours. Keep to the schedule. It isn't okay to always run late. Be on time. Know how long the meeting (or appointment) should take and respect the time on both ends of the timeslot.

  3. Never miss an opportunity to see people. I'm here for a routine checkup but others are facing unknown health challenges or difficult diagnoses or tiresome treatments. This is an unexpected opportunity to listen, show kindness to my neighbor and pray for the stranger sitting across from me.

Everyday moments are filled with learning opportunities. Today's Monday morning did not disappoint.
