Where’s the line?

How much should we toot our own horn? In this world of social media I wonder where we cross the line of self-promotion-gone-wild. Proverbs 27:2 says "Don't brag about yourself. Let others praise you." Two questions come to mind: (1) How many of us spend too much time bragging about ourselves? We might "humblebrag" with the "I am so honored to be recognized..." or "I can't believe I got this award..." Or some may be even more blatant with our self-tooting. How much self-promotion is ok? Tough question. (2) How much time do we spend lifting others up? If we are supposed to let others praise us then how much time can we spend praising others? Can I share an accomplishment of another? Can I notice what others are doing that is fantastic and extraordinary and share THAT on social media? Perhaps we should spend some time bragging on the behalf of others. Food for thought on this December day....
