A great start…
This week is being spent at Christian Community Development Association (CCDA)'s annual conference in Cincinnati. It is so refreshing to see people doing amazingwork in their respective communities without fanfare, just for the glory of God and good of people. Some reminders/takeaways for me so far:
*Appreciate the uniqueness of people. Everyone is a special creation made on purpose for purpose. People have different backgrounds, different life experiences, and different perspectives. We don't all look the same, think the same or experience life the same but there's beauty in the mosaic.
*Listen. Hear the stories of people, their hurts, their questions and their struggles. Stop talking and listen.
*There are many people doing great things. It can be difficult and discouraging at times to see all that still needs to be done. There's so much need. It is good to be reminded that there are many people working everyday to make a difference in their communities.
*I still have much to learn. I know some things but there's so much I still don't know. There are people well-versed in many subjects and hearing the expertise and knowledge of those surrounding me keeps me motivated to keep learning.
*I am inspired. People have conquered big giants, navigated difficult waters and are making huge impact. The stories are captivating and motivating and a reminder to keep going.
I'm confident there's more to come, but this is a great start to a powerful few days.
